Happy Wednesday everybody!
I wanted to do something really special today and send you the first section of my Content Writers Guide that will be live for purchase in a few days. The guide will cost $49.99, and this is Section 1: How To Build A Writing Resume
You’re the only people who get to see this first section and the only people who are going to see it for free.
If you want to be a content writer but don’t have a resume yet—this is step-by-step how you’re going to build that resume with the Facebook groups that you’ll find your new clients in and a copy & paste post to publish to get those first clients.
Proud to share this with you and hope that it’s able to help you become a paid writer, just as it’s help me to do so.

Section 1: How To Build A Writing Resume
This sounds really hard—how could you get somebody to pay you to write for them when you don’t have any experience?
A valid concern, but unfortunately too many writers have given up because of it.
You don’t need a resume to get started as a content writer. What you need is to pitch yourself in the right places, for the right price. And I’m going to give you the harsh reality, at first that price is going to be $0.00.
If that turns you off, then you need to sit down with yourself and decide if content writing is really what you want to do. If you’re not willing to put in the zero and low paying work to make this your profession, you may be in this for a different reason. That reason may be to make money, travel the world, and work remotely, in which case there are much easier jobs that you can choose. For example, you can be an English teacher, charging $20 an hour to speak in English with somebody.
Go and do that instead while you figure out what you really want to do because it’s not content writing.
If you’re the person who read $0.00, gritted their teeth, and said, “Let’s do it,” then we should be friends because you’re awesome, you’re realistic, and you’re going to succeed.
The key to growing an empty resume is to get people to fill it for you, and to do so you’re going to tempt them with free work. I want you to go into the following Facebook groups and copy and paste this,
“Hi everyone! My name is ____________. I’m a new content writer and I’m looking to grow my resume. I would like to offer 2 free articles to the first 10 people who email me with:
2 article topics of choice
The product the articles are promoting
If you need call-to-actions to subscribe to a newsletter or sign up for a free trial
You will have full rights to the articles and do not have to credit me as the writer. All I request is a minimum 100-word testimonial about the articles I’ve written for you.
Looking forward to working together!”
Facebook Groups:
Digital Nomad Jobs - Remote Work From Anywhere
Bucketlist Bombshells Tribe (Females only)
Note: Are you thinking, why are digital nomad Facebook groups included in the groups of people that I should reach out to? This is a fair evaluation of the advice being given in this guide and I’m happy you’re asking. Here’s the thing: Most digital nomads run a sole proprietorship or LLC, and they need to market themselves. They also don’t have the time or money to hire somebody else to do so, and will happily accept free work in return for a two-minute testimonial.
The above Facebook groups are a start but don’t feel bound to them. You can look on Facebook for other Facebook groups to pitch your services to. For example, here are some good keywords to get started:
Entrepreneur
Small Business
SaaS Business
Ecommerce Business
Any of the above associated groups are going to need content and if you’re offering to give it for free, they’ll be more than happy to talk with you.
The goal here is to get a minimum of 10 people to say yes to you. That means you now have:
20 published articles
10 testimonials
Guess who just filled their resume?
Congratulations.
You’re a content writer.
